Dundee United FC in Rwanda
In Nigeria, Dundee United is a term used an insult, basically calling someone an idiot. The story dates back to 1972, but thankfully is not well known…
Now in Africa, (a very small but beautiful part of it) Dundee United means something completely different.
In June 2025, thanks to efforts of united supporter Emily Cooper, club legend Sean Dillon, the club shop and the Supporters Foundation, the charity was able to turn the town of Rubengera tangerine with hundreds of United kits being handed out to the local school
Rubengera will now be the base of for the new Karongi Football Academy, continuing the tangerine theme!
Hopefully the connection between United and the Rubengera community will continue into the future…not least with the 300 hundred kids cutting about in United tops!
United fan Emily Cooper, who played a huge part in us taking so many United kits with us
4 United season ticket holders (and a hinger on)
